Fundraisers

Because the amount allocated by the LCUSD to the Choral Music Department provides only for the Director’s salary and the accompanist’s school-day salary, CPA sponsors a variety of fundraising events and activities. Funds are used for essentials such as sheet music, the accompanist’s concert compensation, educational supplies, festival fees, scholarships, choir room upkeep and more.

Family Sponsors

CPA’s greatest revenue source is parent donations through Family Sponsorships. Please support the program.

Community Donations

We are always grateful to the members of our community who continue to donate to our Choral program. We thank our neighbors, friends, grandparents, alumni, and alumni parents for their contributions! Program Ads

Full page, half page, quarter page and business card-sized ad space is available to our Business Sponsors in the four all-choir concert programs each school year. Two-thirds of each ad sale a student sells goes into their tour account which carries over from year to year. Tribute ads are also available to honor graduating seniors. The Business Ad Flier has more details including ad sizes and costs and can be found on the Forms page. Program Ads can be purchased from the Support Us menu or using the button on the Business Sponsors page.

SONG-A-GRAMS

These are “singing telegrams” students sell to family and friends for $10 each. The telegrams are delivered by phone in late November/early December by groups of students who sing songs from the homes of family volunteers. The revenue supports the student seller’s tour account as well as the choir’s scholarship fund. Scroll down this page to learn more about this fundraiser. Song-a-Grams are sold each November, and can be purchased in the Support Us menu above under Buy Song-a-Grams.

SPARTAN BOOSTER CLUB

There are several ways families can work with the Spartan Booster Club to raise money for the choir.

Raffle Tickets

Students can sell tickets each fall for prizes offered by the Boosters. Proceeds are directed to general choir funds.

Focused Donations

Booster members can focus up to 100% of their Booster membership donations to the choir program.

Dine-Out Events

Occasional dine-out events sponsored by the Boosters support the choir program.

Song-a-Gram proceeds can benefit the choral scholarship fund as well as the student selling the Song-a-Grams. All high school families in the Choral Music Department are strongly encouraged to sell 10 Song-a-Grams to help provide scholarships for students who would otherwise be unable to tour due to financial limitations. Song-a-Grams are generally sold in November before Thanksgiving.

Where the money a student earns goes

Singers earn 75% of each Song-a-Gram they sell for the first 40 Song-a-Grams (up to $300). The earnings go into each student’s personal tour account*. The other 25% goes into the general scholarship fund. Proceeds from any additional Song-a-Grams sold beyond the 40 go into the general scholarship fund.

*Money a student earns will roll over from year to year and can be saved for future tours.

How to order Song-a-Grams

Song-a-Grams are sold online. To place an order, use the Buy Song-a-Grams link under the Support Us menu above. The order form will only be available while Song-a-Grams are being sold, generally the few weeks before Thanksgiving.

How the Song-a-Grams are Delivered

Choral Music Department families volunteer their homes, and students are divided into groups and given a list of Song-a-Grams to deliver. The “singing telegrams” are delivered by telephone, generally in late November & early December. Students will be given their assignments after Thanksgiving Break. The majority of SAGs are delivered on a Saturday morning in early December. See the Calendar for this year’s dates.

Participation in Song-a-Gram delivery is required for all 9th-12th grade singers. Singers in 7th and 8th grade may participate in selling and delivering Song-a-Grams if they choose.

Students who sell 40 or more Song-A-Grams must commit to singing in two SAG sessions.

Questions can be directed to this year’s Song-a-Grams Chair.
