LCHS Chamber Singers' performance at the 2021 ACDA National Conference
LCHS Chamber Singers were selected to perform in a concert session at the American Choral Directors Association’s national conference, at a virtual event on March 17-20, 2021. The ACDA is a nonprofit music organization with more than 17,000 members that promotes excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, teaching and arts advocacy.
As Dr. Brookey explained to the Outlook Valley Sun back in August, it is a huge honor to be selected, as the audition process is very intense.
We are very happy to report that Dr. Brookey received an email from the National ACDA Vice-President and National Conference Chairman, lauding the Chamber Singers’ performance. Dr. Andre J. Thomas states in his email:
“Dear Dr. Brookey and Singers:
Now that the dust has cleared since the conference, on behalf of ACDA and the 2021 steering committee, I would like to thank you and congratulate you on your performance at the 2021 National Conference. I hope you had a chance to view the chat comments about your concert to see how very positive the membership was regarding your excellent presentation.
From your start with "Exsultate," we knew that we were in for a treat. Thank you for being a model of excellence in choral music. Your stunning performance demonstrated that the sky's the limit; when the conductor chooses the suitable repertoire and builds good vocal production and musicality habits. Some of the comments from the chat said, "Glorious and versatile sound." I would agree and add to that a freely produced sound. By closing with the Disney medley, we were even more delighted at your versatility.
This pandemic has been a difficult time for choral musicians around the world. Your performance infused the attendees with inspiration and hope. Some of the comments include, "I never knew how empty my cup was, and this conference fed my soul. These performances have inspired me as I continue to work with my choirs ".
Again, as Conference Chairman, I want to extend to you my heartfelt thanks and congratulations.”

Congratulations, Chamber Singers and Dr. Brookey, for this additional wonderful recognition!
