Choirs 2024 - 2025

La Canada High School offers six choirs to students in 7th-12th grade. Each choir focuses on proper vocal technique, choral performance practices, musicianship appropriate for its level, as well as choral literature from all eras and styles and in multiple languages. All choirs perform in a minimum of four concerts per year in addition to festivals and/or competitions.

Awards and Accomplishments

All six La Canada choirs are outstanding. Each choir regularly receives Superior and/or Gold ratings yearly. Concert Choir and Chamber Singers have won first place at national competitions, and on their international travels, have performed in some of Europe’s most iconic venues, such as St. Peter’s and St. Mark’s Basilicas in Italy, the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, the Matyas Templom in Budapest, and the Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain.

The LCHS Chamber Singers have performed at several American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conferences, specifically in 2004, 2007, and 2016. Most recently, the Chamber Singers, representing the Western half of the United States of America, gave a virtual performance at the 2021 ACDA National Conference with raving reviews. The Chamber Singers were also featured on NPR’s “From the Top” in 2014.

In the Fall of 2022, the Chamber Singers performed at the RCC Festival, and received the following praise from one of the adjudicators, Dr. Cristopher Gravis:

“Wow! What a sound! I'm so impressed by the mature level of hearing required for the students to navigate the complexity of tuning. Just a stunning and extraordinary performance. Incredible! Thank you so much for sharing your brilliance with us today. I think this was an inspiration to everyone who witnessed your music mastery. Bravi Tutti!”
